For my twenty first birthday a special friend of mine gifted me with a six month subscription to Birchbox. It’s beyond the most interesting thing I’ve received by far. A subscription box, something I’ve never had or though about having before actually is pretty fun to receive every month. Hands down owns the title of “The Gift That Never Stops Giving”.
This months box is all about feeling your greatest self, self improvement. Birchbox has partnered with SELF magazine and their editors hand picked the box I chose to get. To my email they sent me three choices: a personally curated box, chose one item out of a list or SELF editors picks. Of course I chose editors choice.
What came in my January Birchbox:
-Shisheido Perfect cleansing oil
-Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads
-Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
-Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel
-Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
My opinions of each product:
Shisheido Perfect Cleansing oil
When I first read cleansing oil, was I the most confused person ever. First of all, cleansing and oil in the same sentence is strange enough however an oil that is made to wash out your pores, and moisturize? Pretty cool, if you ask me. You’re able to use this product on a dry or wet face; works both ways rinsed off with water. Using it on my skin felt foreign, strange. Must I admit when I rinsed off and let my skin air dry not only did I feel a refreshing sensation, but clean too. Hands down when I’m done with the sample I would invest in the full size.
Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads
Naturally if you’re an insomniac, and have less than four hours of sleep you begin to resemble a panda. That is why hydrating eye pads exist: for panda people like us. Wilma Schumann collagen pads will make you feel refreshed, renewed and human. The product helps moisturize, reduce under eye puffiness and dark circles. Also, if you have fine lines, it helps you in that area in aging problems too. Youthful and radiant, that’s what this product was made for. Would I get the full size? Oh definitely because they’ll come in handy especially during major events (it works within minutes).
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
Okay, the Eyeko Liquid liner is the second best product that came in this month. The tip is perfect and sharp so if you’re planning on doing a skinny wing this is the product for you. Not only is the sponge tip great, but the color is perfectly black and the formula is smudge proof. It’s a win win win product. I recommend this especially if you’re a terrible wing artist. It’s skinny tip will help with the effortless wing. Take it from me, usually it take twenty minutes of my time to get the perfect wing only to ruin it on the other eye. However, this pen is perfect. Definitely would get the full size when I run out of this sample.
Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel
If you’re going for a natural groomed look, this is the product for you (and me). Chellas eyebrow gel works wonderfully if you’re brows are already filled in or you just want to groom them. This product is great for what it does, but I wouldn’t say it’s for everyone. If a deep defined dark brow is preferred I’d tell you to stick with a tinted gel. Otherwise, for me it’s a great product and useful. Wouldn’t say I’d get the full size as of now, but If i grow to love it more it’s considerable.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
Not much to say about dry shampoo, or even this particular brand or product. Never have I used or tried dry shampoo so I really can not compare it to anything or determine how good it works. Using it once on my hair it did make my hair feel clean, and soft which is a win win situation. Do I believe in dry shampoo? Um, no. If anything these products stay grounded on your scalp and can potentially clog your pores. Is it great for a quick no shower shower? Definitely, it is. I wouldn’t say I’d buy the whole bottle but it’s was nice to sample it so thank you Birchbox x SELF.
That concludes my review on this months Birchbox’s samples, I was very satisfied with the products picked by SELF magazine.
